The Byzantine cathedral-like Grand Ballroom of Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center was hand painted by the Ukrainian community under the direction of artist Marion Borochok in the late 1950s. Recent severe water damage resulted in the destruction of much of the hall including hand painted Ukrainian patterns and murals. Bohdan Kowalczyk and his team repaired the hall. Artist Dianna Derhak restored and meticulously added a new vibrance to the patterns using symbols reflecting the modern era of an independent Ukraine, current war and Ukraine’s new place in the world as a protector of democracy, defender of human dignity and rule of law and acknowledgement to the countries supporting Ukraine and homage to those who gave their lives for freedom.
On November 25th, please join us in commemorating and celebrating this artistic landmark and all who contributed to its beauty and cultural contribution to Western New York.
